Should you be drinking Raspberry Leaf Tea?

The journey through pregnancy is an exciting one and as your due date starts to loom raspberry leaf tea could potentially be the little star you never knew you needed!                                                                                                                             

As a leaf that has been used by pregnant women for centuries, raspberry leaf contains a host of nutritional and restorative benefits for the body including vitamins A, B, C & E, niacin, selenium, iron and magnesium, as well as high amounts of calcium which can aid in pain relief in the nervous system.                  

Raspberry Leaf’s major component is Fragarine. This chemical compound promotes not only the toning and strengthening of the uterine muscles, but also tones the pelvic floor. This chemical compound makes it the perfect aid to prepare for labour stimulating the uterus and encouraging contractions whilst giving birth, whilst also decreasing excessive post-partum bleeding. Drinking a cup of raspberry leaf tea daily in the last trimester (32 weeks onwards, please do not drink it before) will help prepare your uterus. Gradually increasing this to 3 cups a day whilst preparing for labour will aid in terms of a boost of contractions,  it also has the added bonus of being able to help with expulsion post-delivery.
